The news appears grim. After reducing new cases of COVID-19 to less than 100 a day, Canada faces a deadly second wave. There have been over 100,000 new cases of COVID-19 and over 1,000 recent deaths in Canada since leadership warned that the country was at a crossroads.
As GTA’s favourite medical package shipping company — at R Courier, we’ve been doing our part. We have been working hard to transport the latest medical samples across the Greater Toronto Area to health care organizations for testing.
We have also been transporting other items, like personal protective equipment (PPE) such as clothing, helmets, goggles, and other garments designed to protect people from infection.
Multiple clients take advantage of our priority local delivery services to receive their COVID-19 related items on time. At R Courier, we salute the brave men and women working on the frontlines to fight this disease and keep the general public safe. Of course, our brave couriers are also on the frontlines.
At R Courier, we train our drivers extensively. They do their best to be polite, courteous, follow your instructions, and go the extra mile when needed.
In addition, our couriers are trained to follow all strict safety protocols. We do our best to avoid the undesirable events that other delivery companies have suffered in Canada. For instance, a Canada Post sorting plant in Calgary, Alberta, was associated with several infections in earlier in the year. Not long after, a Purolator facility in Toronto also reported an outbreak. Not only did this adversely affect the speed of critical deliveries, but it put people at risk. We follow every possible measure to avoid such situations.
Not only are our couriers are trained to use their protective gear, but they’re also trained to observe all social distancing protocols — this keeps them, their loved ones, and you safe too.
Just a reminder, an excellent way to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 is to minimize in-person contact through physical distancing. It’s best practice to keep a distance of at least 2 meters from others as much as possible. Remember, COVID-19 can be asymptomatic and is highly infectious. That’s why everyone must stay vigilant to bring the second wave back under control.
Studies continue to show that the virus travels predominantly through respiratory aerosols and that face masks are a great defensive tool. For example, the University of Mainz, Germany, discovered that masks could reduce the spread of COVID-19 by as much as 40%. It compared the city of Jena, which was an early adopter of masks, with other parts of Germany where masks were adopted much later. They noticed that new infections in the town almost disappeared completely!
As our valued clients, we also recommend that you wash your hands immediately after opening your parcel and follow all disinfection procedures. If your parcel is not an urgent consignment, you may leave your package in an isolated place for 24 hours. Experts say that the virus doesn’t survive on most surfaces for more than a day. While this precaution may seem like overkill, it’s something to keep in mind.
Aside from their extensive training, our couriers are also licensed to do their jobs safely and securely. Our couriers have the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) license, which allows them to handle potentially dangerous goods, such as medical parcels that contain infectious samples. In addition, our fully licensed couriers can even transport Class 7 Radioactive goods. For instance, this lets R Courier transport nuclear medicine, which is essential for our clients in radiology.
