The lockdown is working! After weeks of rising numbers, the COVID-19 curve seems to be going down, if ever so slightly. Although there are still thousands of new cases every day, the positive signs are something to treasure.
Of course, we shouldn’t grow complacent. While the worst of the second wave may be behind us, our brave men and women on the frontlines need our support. For one, the curve could slide back up if we ignore safety measures. For the other, a more threatening version of the COVID-19 virus could become the dominant strain in the province of Ontario.
At R Courier, we realize that testing is an essential weapon in the fight against the disease. To serve the COVID -19 testing needs of renowned clients like Public Health Toronto, Sunnybrook Hospital, and many health care organizations in Scarborough, we offer fast, safe, and reliable medical parcel delivery services.
Thanks to these crucial deliveries, professionals have been able to quickly determine test results and inform members of the public about their viral status. People with positive COVID-19 results have then quarantined to avoid spreading the infection.
Safety Protocols
We continue to remain operational by following strict safety protocols. Our couriers use the best safety gear and are highly trained to observe all social distancing protocols. The ideal way to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 is to minimize in-person contact through physical distancing. It’s best practice to keep a distance of at least 2 meters from others as much as possible. Remember, COVID-19 can be asymptomatic and is highly infectious.
Our couriers also utilize mobile signature technology to maintain security and safety at drop off. If you’d rather receive your package without mobile signature capture, then simply call our dispatch, and they’ll leave a message for the courier. However, please be aware of the risks involved.
Unfortunately, the news has been grim for other delivery services. For instance, a Canada Post sorting plant in Calgary, Alberta, was associated with several infections last year. Not long after, a Purolator facility in Toronto also reported an outbreak.
The latest news out of the Canada Post facility in Mississauga, Ontario, is equally alarming. Since January 1st, 2021, 273 workers have tested positive for COVID-19.
We must do everything we can to stay safe and deliver critical medical parcels or our health care industry will suffer. We must learn from countries like Italy, where there was panic over packed rooms lack of life-saving personal protective equipment (PPE). Even Canadian hospitals were forced to cancel or delay over hundreds of thousands of surgeries last year.
Even though our couriers follow safety procedures extensively, we still recommend that you wash your hands immediately after opening your parcel and follow all disinfection procedures. If your package is not an urgent consignment, you may leave your package in an isolated place for at least a day. Experts say that the virus doesn’t survive on most surfaces for more than 24 hours. While this precaution may seem like overkill, it’s something to keep in mind.
